Only 3 cowboy showed up on Christmas eve with just 2 shooting the match.   The weather was almost perfect with it being a little chilly.   See you at the next match.

Blue stayed up late developing the stage he wrote.  It was a carry over from his cowboy mounted shooting that involved shooting 5 balloons with blanks.  Two were tossed in the air and 3 were stationary.  About half the cowboys managed to hit all 5 balloons.

​

We also had trouble with the timer.  It got so bad that we ended up using a stop watch, so all the scores are suspect.

​

We would like to welcome 2 new shooters to the club (Buckhorn and Cece Pearl)  Hopefully they will be back to shoot with up again.

​

Another great day for shooting brought out 7 cowboys to defend the west.  Every thing went well until the we got to the stages that Hossface wrote.  Stage 4 included a popper for the shotgun.  Most of the cowboys broke the target except Doc Bandit.  He attempted to do a reload between shots.  He managed to get the second shot off in time but missed the target.

​

On the 5th and 6th stages we could shoot the targets in any order but had to move at least once during the stage.  Hossface decided that on stage 6 he would move between each shot which he did successfully.  However, since Hossface was shooting HPD, he didn't have to move that many times.  Doc bandit decided to take up that challenge and attempted to do the same shooting ES. He came close to meeting the challenge but ended up having to shoot 2 round from the same position since he had ejected the empty case and chambered a live round.  (thus his high score due to being really slow as well as having a procedural)  Bulldog also attempted the challenge.  He also ended up having to shoot several rounds from the same location as well as having a procedural and high score.  It turns out that moving between shoots harder to do than one might think

Even with the summer heat, 10 cowboys/cowgirls showed up to the match. Bulldog only shot 4 stages due to mobility issues and Tumbleweed left early after the first 4 stages.  Blue wrote 2 of his "famous stages" (we have got to quit giving him a pencil😉).  RD wrote several stages of which he managed to get a procedural on one.  This was even after he was reminded of the shooting order. just moments before he shoot the stage.🙁  After the main match, several cowboy stay around and did a practice Wild Bunch stage.

The "Slamfire Wild Bunch Memorial Shoot" took place in spite of the heat.  Turnout was less than expected.  However, everyone had a great time.  Bulldog and Hossface showed up but didn't shoot opting to run the match.  Ridge Runner was clearly in the lead until stage 4 when his rifle fell off the table thus making a stage DQ.  In spite of that, he still came in 3rd place.  Good to see Cornbider there.  Hope to see him more often as well as Hossface. 

 

One of the stages involved a popup target.  The 4 trapshooter mostly redeem themselves by hitting the popup even though it took Bulldog 2 attempts to succeed.  Last time we had a popup, 3 out of the 4 trapshooter missed the target.

The hot weather continued.  After 4 stages, a vote was taken to decide if we wanted to continue or call it a day.  Two cowboys voted to call it a day including Doc Bandit.  However, he was "shamed" into staying for the rest of the match.  Blue shot Wild Bunch and left after 3 stages with Tumbleweed leaving after 4 stages.  Ranger Six again easily won the match showing us how it is supposed to be done.

The hot weather must of kept some of the cowboy home in front of their air conditioners. (I wonder if they would be considered "Real Cowboys" 😉)  None the less, 9 cowboys showed up with 8 shooting after RD decided not to shot.  The match went well with some notable exceptions. Sugarfoot forgot to load one of his revolvers thus generating 5 misses for that stage.  Idaho Dutchman  had his rifle front site come loose while he was shooting making it difficult to hit the targets resulting in 7 misses and Patty Cake ended up shooting the wrong rifle target adding a procedural to her score.  It should be noted that she was also shooting in the Gunfighter category and did very well

 

It has been brought to my attention that that there still are some cowboy that have not paid their annual dues. Please pay them as soon as possible.   To all those who have paid, a big THANK YOU.

The best turnout of the year happened when 12 cowboy showed up to play.  However, only 9 cowboys finished the match.  Blue showed up late claiming he was unaware of the summer hours.   Then he had the nerve😉 to promote his latest book, "Advanced Revolvers" (available on Amazon).  One would think that he would be giving a copy to all his cowboy shooting buddies😀.

​

Welcome to Sandpoint Slim, our newest member.  Good to finally have him make it to a match since he has been talking about it for a long, long, long time.  Also welcome Ranger Six from the Colville club who showed us all how it is supposed to be done by easily winning the match.

​

For those who haven't paid, you annual dues need to be paid by July 1 (or at the next match).  To all those who have paid, a big THANK YOU.

Eight cowboys eventually showed up to play with one cowboy not being aware of the summer hours and coming late.  Hats off to Ridge Runner for shooting a clean match.  RD was not so lucky.  For the second match in a row, he got a procedural on the stage he wrote.  He may want to consider holding off stage writing for a while (or not).  One of the stage involved a pop up target  (can of soda).  Turns out that 3 of the cowboys shoot trap on a regular basis.  Considering that it, would be expected that they would have not problems hitting the pop up.  Only Ridge Runner managed to hit the can with RD and Bulldog totally missing.  So much for all that practice  trap shooting.  In spite of that, everyone had a great time.

​

On July 30 there will be a Wild Bunch Match so pull out those 1911's and come on down.

​

It is that time of year again, membership dues need to be paid for the  coming year starting in July 1st.

Another great day of shooting started with 10 cowboys/cowgirls ready to shoot.  Everyone had a great time except Doc Bandit and RD who got a procedural on a stage they wrote.  So much for trying to game the system.

We had slight improvement in the number of  cowboys showing up to save "The West" from bandits and other vermin.  Surveyor Tanner emerged from a long winters hibernation and it was great to have him at the shoot. Hope to see everyone next time.

With the match on Easter Sunday, only 5 cowboys showed up to shoot.  Turned out to be another great day of shooting.  Good to see Muleskinner at the shoot.  Has been a number of years since he shot with the El Buscaderos.  Hopefully he will be back soon.

Finally, a semi warm, sunny day brought out 5 cowboy to enjoy a day of shooting.  We started off with a stage Doc Bandit wrote, much to the distress of some of the cowboys. The distress was likely justified considering the Doc got a procedural on the stage.  The rest of the stages were more straight forward and the match was completed without further complaints.

The cold weather appears to be keeping most of the cowboys /cowgirls /cowpeople /cowpersons /cowwhatever,  for coming out for a day of shooting.  Again, only Doc Bandit and Idaho Dutchman showed up to shoot with Bulldog there to keep score and run the timer.  Had a fast match with it being over by 11:15 AM.   Hope to see more of you next time.

Only 2 cowboys showed up to enjoy a great,  sunny day of shooting.   Bulldog also showed up to run the timer and do the scores. He decided not to shoot due to the cold not allowing his fingers to function well.  Oddman dropped by for a few minutes to say high but didn't shoot.  With only 2 shooters, the match was finished by noon.  Doc Bandit finally realized a personal goal of having a score under 200 for all the stages.  Hopefully more cowboys will be there next match.

The feared poor weather did not materialize and the doy proved to be a great day for shooting.  Only Idaho Dutchman and Doc Bandit showed up to shoot.  No official scores were kept.
